that is correct as WINZ paid tax on what they have paid you. That is the Tax Act and nothing to do with the ACC Act.

Whilst on winz benefits you pay PAYE this is paid to inland revenue
When you get backdated comp they make you pay that PAYE again even though it is in IRD coffers already so this means that winz should apply to IRD for reimbursement and you should not have to pay double tax which you are ( think about it for a while ) this also means IRD gets to keep the PAYE that you paid whilst on a benefit, and this has been going on for years which is double dipping and tantamount to fraudI am in the process of fighting this now , as i think i have just opened a can of worms as everyone at winz , ird and acc are running for cover

I Have won three major cases against ACC thus far , with one still pending , but when you engage the services of the best ACC lawyer in NZ ,( Mr Ben Thompson of Armstrong Thompson Law Then you are on a winner.I am seriously thinking of writing a book and calling it " The survivors guide for ACC"First rule of survival " Don't represent yourself, if you do , then you have a fool for a lawyer".
I am on ACC till the day i retire this is guaranteed as i only have a little over 1 year to go lol
