The attached paper, from a Canadian community law centre that represents personal injury victims, highlights exaggerated claims of costs blow outs by insurers and the Canadian ACC-equivalents (Workers Compensation Boards) as the excuse to cut cover and entitlements to those victims and shift those costs on to the victims and their immediate families. The paper might help readers fine-tune their bullshit detectors in the run-up to the Nats' law changes here later this year. NB - not all the bullshit will be from the Right wing (ACT-Nats-Maori party/Greens?) either.

At the end of the year every door that has been opened will be closed. ACC's new legislation will make things even more draconian than they are. Case mangies will have the power to come in to your home and totally invade what is left of your life. The insurers make policy holders the working niggers of the industry. Something to be trodden on.Expendable.
Lets face it. How long does anyone last on ACC? The Corporations own figures say it is very short. That the long term numbers are only "about" 7%. Now, each year ACC sets its budget it charges us all what is called a Residual claims levy. The Residual Claims levy is struck to cover the costs of the long term account. This was to be done until ACC was fully funded in 2015.
So they charge and are paid for the long termers each year yet they say they are the reason for their financial problems? And we, the public are oblivious to the obvious fact that there is the worlds worst financial disaster ever happening and they have lost all of their investments??
There are thousands, literally thousands of people in New Zealand living in pain, cold, poverty and hardship. Because ACC has illegally defaulted on their entitlements. The New ZealandGovernment owns and has full control over ACC. It is currently drafting measures that will increase that number.
