HAD THE PLEASURE OF GIVEN BEN A RIDE HOME,IT GETS WORSE HE ASK IF THEY COULD FIX HIS RAMP,AN OT CHECKED IT THEN ADVISED HIS CM THAT ALL HE NEEDED WAS ANOTHER PLANK ,WHICH KAY COSTALOT AGREED WITH,YOU DON,T TREAT ANIMALS THIS WAY YET WITH HUMANS ITS FINE,CHECK THE PHOTOS ON THE OTHER SITE.IT WAS AN EFFORT AND VERY SLIPPERY AND UNSTABLE WHO DOES THAT REMIND YOU OFF ACC.
Now this is serious, The building code has definite rules on Disabled Access to buildings, an initial search turns up NZS 4121: 2001 Design for access and mobility - Buildings and Associated facilities, but not sure if it relates to residential dwellings.
OSH laws mean if this was a workplace, the employer could be fined.
This could be a breach of health and safety laws, and questions must be asked as to
ACC's responsibility, or DUTY of Care, when allowing and agreeing to such an unstable disabled access ramp. This type of structure is NOT approved by New Zealand Building Standards for Disabled Access.
ACC - send a builder around there to fix it, an occupational therapist and case manager are not qualified to judge building standards, or maybe you want another protest?
This is Ben's Wheel chair access Ramp, it is in far worse and dangerous condition than the wheelchair. This needs immediate replacement with a properly designed ramp complete with safety guard rail.
Question: How much $$$ did ACC spend on refurbishing/ repairing/upgrading their own offices to use excess $$$ available in their budget for the last financial year??
ACC could have fixed the wheelchair and had a proper ramp installed, instead they chose to spend the $$ on an occupational therapist and acc case manager, who agreed to supply a Plank.
Get off your arse ACC, get this ramp up to NZ building Code compliance standards.

How long would it take a politician to raise this in parliament?
