Hi has any body been allowed a choice of an medical assessor from the contracted providers list rather than a selected subset of two or three assessors?

Yes I have.

Objected to one and got choice of another. Up in Auckland, plane trip away, the works. Tiring day for me though.

They paid for the lot and then the recommented medical treatment as well.

Short answer - yes, claimants do have a choice. Ask for the list of assessors together with their qualifications.

Yes you have the choice, you can go to any on the list of approved assessors. But ACC only have to pay you travel to the nearest.

As far as I am aware ACC's only normal excuse is you cannot see an assessor that you have seen before,,, for obvious reasons, the exit train. As long as the assessor is a specialist in the field pertaining to your injury - doesn' have anything to do with it - in ACC's reasoning.
Suppose there is no harm in requesting someone you would prefer off the list.

A little off topic ,I know, but can anyone shed some light on this? This is part of a letter from ACC to me recently regarding the Initial Medical Assessment, is it bullshit or true?

"The assessor received copies of all your treatment providers' reports, it is not a requirement for these assessors to be specialised in your area of incapacity as they are not your treatment providers for your injury."

This was in response to my concern that my IMA had been conducted by a GP, not a psychiatrist or psychologist, as my claim is mainly for the psychological effects of the physical injury. I don't believe it was an accurate measure of my limitations.

Take the psychiatrist/psycologist reports with you that you do have. They will be more to the point.

Medical assessors

During 2001 and early 2002, I was not given a chioce of assessors.

If you are sent for "independant" assessments and it can't be to someone you've seen before (for an assessment) what is the story when you're sent to a specialist who operates under the same bussiness name and works in the same building and has an office right next door to the first one you've seen?

Interesting to see most of these Contracts including Robert Sellars Contracts(F.C.E SYSTEMS - NATIONWIDE) are from 01/10/2003 to 31/01/2009.

Now that's not to long away so maybe it's time for some more action to be taken & ACCountability of ACC levies just like those of the Funds paid to Private Investigators & the Physio Reports etc done in the last year or 2.

This would have to be a must include in the People's Taskforce that is suggested online here wouldn't it?

This is another case of some one asking for help and still it is going around and around.

What is the object of the assessment???????????

Is it part of your rehabilitation or is it for the acceptance of a claim.

It is more important to make sure that the assessor has the correct information and this information includes information about all of you rehabilitation, treatment to enable you to do the Vocational rehabilitation if needed, and rehabilitation that is needed socially so that you end up as independent as possible.

You must remember that already a Doctor has looked at your records that is independent from the treatment providers, who is an employee of ACC.

Again What is your assessment for and then you can gather all of the needed information go to the assessor that you want with the out come that all of your entitlements can be supplied.

ACC staff job is to up set you, tell lies, and make sure that no or as little as possible entitlements are supplied.

You will not get change by complaining which assessor you are going to see. You will get change and entitlements by setting the staff and assessors up for criminal prosecution when they don't follow the law or legislation.

So why don't you tell What is the assessment for????

I request a list of assessors and now check them against this website http://www.mcnz.org....ctors/?id=21156 and then select the one most suitable for me. Sometimes I phone them and interview them prior to selecting them, once I met the assessor prior to the assessment.
