ACC's Attitude Slammed as a Disgrace

Press Release
ACCLAIM Support groups

ACCLAIM support groups from around the country are calling for the General Manager of ACC Healthwise, David Rankin's, sacking for his denigrating, discrediting and demonising comments about ACC claimants reported in several newspapers this morning.

"People with serious injuries get into the habit of watching TV all day, getting up at midday, and lose the routine, lose some of the self-presentation skills." Rankin went further in an attempt to justify his incompetence and ineptitude. He said "Before doing these courses they had all been on ACC for six months or more, had become dependent on ACC benefits and were showing no motivation at all about looking for a job or finding a job."

Support groups would like to remind the ACC that payments are not benefits. They are entitlements for injured people who have had cover accepted for an injury. These claimants remain injured and have medical certificates that state they are still affected by their injury, to the extent that they require continuing cover from ACC, by GPs and specialists.

A spokesperson for the support groups said "We are incensed with this absolutely unacceptable attitude and culture at the top level of ACC management which clearly permeates throughout the entire ACC system and our people are again calling for a public inquiry. We expect greater levels of accountability from a corporation that collects more than 2.3 billion of public money annually from NZ levy payers, which by the way includes claimants and their families."

Despite ACC's motto of Prevention, Care and Recovery claimants say that they are not receiving specialist recommended aids and appliances which will assist them. They are not even receiving appropriate rehabilitation, despite having signed and agreed Individual Rehabilitation Plans.

David Rankin has also failed to mention the "financial incentives" linked to Key Performance Indicators for ACC Staff to remove injured claimants from ACC assistance, clearly exposed on www.Accforum.org. and published in the media in 2003. It would appear from Ruth Dyson's comments that work preparation programme providers are also rewarded financially for 'successful outcomes'.

An ACCLAIM spokesperson commented "This leaves us wondering whether the Work Preparation Programmes are just another exit strategy designed to remove people's rightful entitlement to rehabilitation and compensation whilst padding the government's coffers. Comments made by the General Manager certainly do nothing to waylay our concerns."

I would Like to inform MR David "Rank" Rankin, in case this clodhopper is unaware of what has been happening in his corrupt ACC corperation, NOT ONLY do longterm claimants get into a routine of "sleeping in" as it is a means of pain control and many injured people have serious medication and waking is not so easy, where does this dolt head get off!!, sackings too good for this sod, he should be strung up.
Hey Mr Ruddy Rankin, have you been in this situation, ya prize prick!.
And why has ACC waited for 10 yrs before any active rehabilitation programs have been set out for some claimants, They`ve lost hope, you bloody jerk Rankin!.
I hope you Read this Rankin, cause we wouldn`t like a similar situation to befall on you or your family, bad Karma!.

sacking is to good for Radkin. agreeee

a section 308 as he committed an Offence to mislead corporation.
this will cut his salary with out firing him as summary conviction can be done in the next 5 years .

Give him some rehabilitation.

Weigh Bridge Opperator . no hiswould mea that he would en upon thewest coast with out employment.

Street Cleaner Wellington Central Business District. the ideal job and a bit of sponsorship from the ACC can show how the corporation has rehabilitated RADKIN into another form of employment that he is quite capaple of.

the corporation policy on anyone that is acused of misleading the Corporation has there entitlement stopped. Mr Radkin wages or earnings are entitlements and these should be stopped

a good part of RADKIN becoming a street cleaner is that he will still be able to comunate ith all his mates while carrying out his work. Picking up the litter that his freinds drop

this will also give him the first hand the treatment that the ACC gives claimants

I found this information on a website called Big News...
http://big-news.blogspot.com/

Quote: Alpha Consultant's ACC contract of nasal enemas and rehabilitative chanting, singing and screenings of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest may well be limited thanks to political and media intervention.

Two of the three company directors for Alpha Consultants are Catherine Hodges and Maureen Bray. Hodges is the Waikato member of the Career Practitioner Association of New Zealand (CPANZ). CPANZ was formed with the aim of promoting professional standards of career practice. Maureen Bray is the CPANZ member for Northland. So it appears that Alpha Consultants are heavily involved within the CPANZ, despite their dodgy rehabilitation practices.

But a Wellington representative on CPANZ is one Tisha Wilson. She so happens to be the wife of ACC chief executive Garry Wilson. END.

Yep disgraceful, the attitude of that jerk goes all the way down to his case managerís, if he is still working at ACC or not they all have no intention of so called rehab, hell I even had a call two weeks after having spinal surgery to make arrangements for a work assessment, I would have loved to have got out of bed but the fact is the pain was so great and my legs would not hold me for any longer than a walk to the dunny , hell I have been paying into this insurance for all of my working life, they consistently bully you to the point you would rather work with pain and make the injury worse than put up with the bullshit from ACC, sorry guys just ranting a little, guess Rankin would understand this being a caring and understanding person that he is, or not.

What professional standards? These people discriminate against disabled persons.
