One word of WARNING!!! this imeeting is for new people who are still trying to get cover, and who are currently have difficulties with ACC...
It will not be a forum for some of our older claimants who have been on ACC for many years and belong to this forum to air their grievances with ACC, I am not trying to be disrespectful but we will not have the time. If I remember last time we had a meeting in Whangarei, some members of the public walked out because some older claimants hogged the meeting.
I want this meeting to be proactive and address peoples real concerns, I will then set up a further meeting with Phil and Martin Brooker at a later date.
I will be leading the meeting, we will have a question time at the end, and if there is tea and coffee facility I would expect everyone to bring something to bring a plate... I will find out if we can have drinks afterwards!!!
The issue that we will discuss first hand will be on cover, and I will be sharing some facts about degeneration!!! Which will be helpful for everyone!!
If you have any questions you are welcomed to call me and if you are offended by what I have said about our older members, this meeting is not set up to offend you!! Please remember that.
If the meeting is successful I will hold other workshops throughout the year to address the VIA process, etc...
If you want to help hand out some leaflets, send me a copy of your email address and I will send you a flyer.
My email address is [email protected]
Kind regards, Jeannette 433-7480
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE - EVENTUALLY

Great stuff.
Regarding the issue of Cover.
From my experiences found out to obatin cover one must first get an accurate diagnosis of the body site(s) injuried and the extent and severity of each injury.

Medicially recorded fracture Left Arm.
ACC reckon sprain/strain.
Therefore what Cover do I have and what am I entitled to ?
Real simple by going with the paper work entitled to bugger all ...
Take a closer look at the photo of my arm.
Without a FULL LIST of my injuries its impossible to recieve FULL COVER from ACC for all my injuries sustained from my work accident 7/2/1986.
ACC Whangarei Branch Manager kept on about ACC granting Cover for all my injuries sustained from work accident 7/2/1986. I said whoa fantastic thats great and asked specifically what are my injuries ? Repeated again about ACC granting cover ... told him not deaf I heard what you said specifically what are my injuries. With a red face and lots of coughing and spluttering end of conversation.
24 November 2006 ( accident dated 7/2/1986 )
Medicial Meeting with my Dr and ACC Representives 9 body sites identified and the extent and severity of each body site recorded.
15 December 2006
ACC advised of back dated weekly compensation. June 1986 ------------------------------------------------------------
To recieve appropiate treatment one medicially must work out the extent and severity of what they are treating..
To recieve appropiate cover ACC must be fully informed of the extent and severity of all injuries and record them.
To recieve appropiate management from ACC there would be a need to be fully informed of what they are trying to manage.
Without appropiate treatment and without appropiate cover you could end up in a long drawen out battle and huge undue personal costs.

One way of looking at this is it took me over 20 years to get COVER from ACC. Supported in a Proffesional manner from my Doctor , Specialist.
ACC admitted Failure of Service from 7/2/1986 and the past 15-16 months Barristers working on this.
Apologises if a bit long and " hogging " ... but over 22 years of recieving a Failure of Service from ACC gets a bit beyond a joke.
Get the basic details correct and then at the very least have an opportunity to recieve some appropiate rehabilitation and assistance.

The purpose of this meeting is to reach out to those who are having problems with their claims with ACC, in an attempt to inform them of their rights and the processes available to use for THEM to address these issues. It is not intended to provide a platform for those with long standing disputes with ACC to use the meeting to enlist other claimants to their cause.
It is about "their" issues as opposed to "your" issues.

Thanks Spacecadet ...
How about instead of " their " or " your " issues ... " Our " issues.
Could it be the problem with a claim with ACC could start from date of accident ?
If so then all details at the point of accident causing personal injury(ies) must be true , accurate from all parties ... Claimant , Treatment Provider , ACC ... if the details are incorrect then the start the makings of a glorified cockup are in the process.

Thanks mate talk soon.

Those blue books put out by ACC are really important for a new claimant to have to understand rights etc.
It is called: "How we will help you with your recovery".
Being forarmed with information is being forwarned.
I don't see why the ACC should mind giving you a few copies to pass around to your new claimants, afterall, you are basically doing what they should be doing anyway.
Maybe these people could go along to a hui as well.
Good Luck
