Dear Catherine Parkin

Re Proposed changes to the IPRC Act (Amendment No 3)

I am a member of the public using complementary & alternative medicine. I support the proposed
change to the definition of acupuncturist in Section 6 (1) of the principal Act.
I think it is important fur the public to have a choice of acupuncture treatment provider.
I support the recognition of suitably qualified members of the New Zealand Acupuncture Standards
Authority Inc. (NZASA) as drafted in clause 3(1) (b ).

I think the Health Select Committee should specify the academic requirements for membership of the New Zealand Register of Acupuncture Inc. This has been done for members of NZASA. I believe that failure to do this would be discriminatory to members of NZASA, as the standards should be the same for everyone.

I do not wish to appear before the Select Committee as I will be away working overseas.
