My partner has recently seen Dr Gil Newburn. We asked our GP to refer us and we only ($100) had to pay a part payment and ACC paid the rest. What I am interested in, if this dr is not a 'preferred specialist' of ACC, why do they pay for part of the consultation? And because they pay for some of the consult, why in turn won't they accept any reports Dr Gil Newburn writes? How can I get ACC to acknowledge and accept his professional views?

Acc do not have to accept any report, Sometimes they don't even follow court rulings, if Dr Newburn is not one of their TOADIES, he is likely to be not giving them what they want.

You will have to file for a review, this is how they play the game.

Also, I have had many specialists reports done over the years, and ACC have paid the total cost, I have never contributed anything.

I had one report done by a non toady, and they paid all the cost, $3.200.00. and then totally disregarded it.

I know people with head injury swear by Dr Newburn and his reports. Once you get as far as District Court the Judge will soon look at it and take it into consideration. So if ACC are not accepting the report, where to from there, did they say

This is the reply I got:

I can confirm the information you have been given from Dr Newburn’s rooms is incorrect in your circumstances. Dr Newburn does not hold a contract with ACC. You are able to see Dr Newburn under the Cost of Treatment Regulations for treatment only he is not able to complete the required assessment. ACC is therefore unable to accommodate your request.

Your choices of provider are Dr Rudi Krtizinger or Dr Greg Finucane. ACC can assist with transport assistance to this appointment for you if required. Unfortunately there are no closer providers to you who will be able complete this assessment.

When providing clients with a choice of providers, it is noted in our policy that if confirmation is not received from yourself within 5 days we will proceed with the earliest available provider of the choices you were given. We are happy to provide you with some additional time to consider the choices we have provided you – please confirm your preference by 20/01/2020 and we will contact their rooms to determine their availability.

I can confirm that your weekly compensation will continue during this time. If however you advise us that you do not wish to undertake the assessment, this may affect your weekly compensation as whilst in receipt of ACC entitlements, it is one of your responsibilities to attend and participate in appropriate assessments.

Kind regards
Bernie

When I saw Dr Newburn I was in a real state. He explained carefully and considerately what was going on, and altered my meds accordingly. ACC doesn't accept his reports because he tells it as it is. Unfortunately, there are so-called medical professionals who rely heavily on ACC for their income. So much for the Hippocratic oath and any sense of morality.

Gil is great to see just to keep yourself sane. Go for Greg Finucane who apparently gets pissed off with ACC wanting him to rewrite reports to suit them. I've heard not to go to Kritzinger.

ACC dislike Gil for bailing out and going back to his medical roots where caring for his patients mattered, not throwing them under the ACC bus. ACC will argue with Gil's reports, they will rebutt Gil's reports, they will repeatedly fall flat on their face in Court because of Gil's reports and they will currently pay $110 towards consultation costs with Gil.

Kritzinger in his ACC hatchet man job has major issues with the Truth, you would avoid him slightly more than you would the plague. He should have been a novelist.
