HI my partner needs a new SNA done. The last one was done almost 10 years ago and a lot has changed for him in that time. It's funded by ACC, he is under their serious injury unit for multiple brain injuries. These are the suggetions ACC have given me, please tell me if you have had any positive or negative outcomes from any of these places thanks.

SNA assessors:

  • ABI Community Services, Metcalfe Road, Ranui, Auckland
  • APM Workcare Ltd, Rosedale, Auckland
  • Focus on Potential Ltd – Hamilton based but they also cover Auckland
  • Geneva Healthcare Ltd – Auckland City
  • Habit Group (incl QRS) – Wellington based but they also cover Auckland
  • Specialist Rehab Services Ltd – Albany, Auckland (but they cover Auckland).

Hi there

I am not sure what SNA means or what sort of specialist you need to have this done. However for mental caused by physical I had my assess done by Mr David Codyre in Auckland. This fellow was so thorough, he wrote all he needed to know on a white board and asked me to correct his writings if he got it wrong. All in date order of course. Then I had a task to fill in the blanks so to speak. This was done in a three hour interview and he wrote a very informed document that was understandable even to me. I would recommend anyone will injuries to see if he can help them out with an assessment. If he cant he will surely put you onto someone that can.

Good Luck

Hi Mini, thanks for replying, sorry I should have made it clear. SNA is short for Support Needs Assessment. We will also be seeking someone to help us apply for a mental injury caused by a physical injury. Is David Codyre funded by ACC and did ACC accept your claim for the injury? Is he a Neuropsychiatrist? lol sorry so many questios. I'd like to hear more about how your mental injury claim went, there is so much to learn. My partner is also going to have to have a seperate Neuropsychologist report due to the declline in his health.

Hi there

I suspect he was as they paid for me to fly to Alk to see him. Don't know if he is now thought. Yes I was accepted and still am. I did not have and brain injury though, it was the way I was treated after returning to work on light duties. Work didn't like that and as I would never be a 100% again they bullied me into taking 'early retirement', after having operations on my shoulders. I was a real mess as I loved my job and didn't like being 'downgraded' because of injury. He is a psychiatrist, but it was a long time ago, so you would be best to look him on the web or ring him to find if he does the sort of work you need. I have given his name to a lot of people on here as he was so thorough and writes a really good report.

Good Luck
