THE MINISTER FOR ACC RUTH DYSON HAS RELEASED THE DRAFT DROWNING PREVENTION STRATEGY: TOWARDS A WATER SAFE NEW ZEALAND 2005-2015 DOCUMENT FOR PUBLIC CONSULTATION

ACC ARE INVOLVED IN THIS ONE

SUBMISSIONS CLOSE 5.00PM FRIDAY 18TH FEBRUARY 2005

http://www.nzips.govt.nz/

A key focus of the New Zealand Injury Prevention Strategy (NZIPS) is to strengthen and enhance the infrastructure that supports injury prevention activity to improve safety performance.

During the past year the NZIPS Secretariat focused on the following key priorities from the Implementation Plan 2004/05:
Development of a workforce competencies framework to address the issue of strengthening injury prevention capacity and capability.
Collaboration and co-ordination between government, local government, non-government organisations, communities and individuals to integrate injury prevention activity and reduce duplication of effort.
Developing robust and valid injury indicators which are essential to ensure that we can measure the success of injury prevention initiatives and activity in New Zealand.
Articles providing further details on these projects can be found in the resources/news section.

Lead agency activity
The agencies leading the six national priority areas have also had a very busy time.
ACC has been developing the Drowning Prevention Strategy: Towards a Water Safe New Zealand 2005 - 2015 and the Preventing Injury from Falls: The National Strategy 2005 - 2015.
The Department of Labour (OSH) completed the public consultation for the Workplace Health and Safety Strategy and are now assessing and analysing the comments received.
The Ministry of Youth Development (MYD) in association with the Ministry of Health (MOH) have been leading work on a range of initiatives to improve support for families, whanau, and significant others that have been affected by a suicide attempt, or bereaved by suicide.
Further information regarding this work is available in the injury priorities section.

LOL had a conversation last night with a neighbour who is currently having physio for a back strain obtained by cutting too much firewood.... the group thought she should ask ACC to provide someone to cut the wood under their 'injury prevention' section rather than have to pay for physio etc after she injures her back! LOL was quite a funny discussion with a whole group of friends at a BBQ that didn't include any claimants... Funny how the word starts to get out about ACC's current method operandi once claimants start "coming out of the closet" and taking honestly about their experiences instead of feeling guilty....

Wonder if they are going to legislate safe practice for "APPROVED" treatment providers?

Well they got all of our swimming pools fenced off.
Wonder how long it will take the idiots to fence
off all the RIVERS and BEACHES????
The bloody rules are only there to suit the
easiest way of making more monies from our pockets.
