Prior to my accident, I had been in employment for 9 months and on an unemployment benefit for 3 months.
Is my weekly compensation worked out at 80% of the combined for
previous years earnings?

The unemployment benefit is not treated as earnings for the purpose of assessing your weekly compensation. Your first 4 weeks of compensation are assessed at 80% of your weekly earnings from employment in the 4 weeks before your injury. After that, it is assessed as 80% of what your average weekly earnings from employment over the year before your injury. So, if you were on a benefit for part of this time, you will get less than if you had been working for the full year.
