Hello all,
I was hit by a car. It drove through a give-way sign -I was on a major road. I was on a "push-bike".
I went over the bonnet into the windscreen and landed in the middle of a dual carriageway! Whilst going up, over the bonnet I broke off the aerial. The aerial stub went through my lower left leg. I went continually to hospital to have the gangrene cut out and dressings replaced.
I have now full blown sarcoidosis - respiratory problems, diagnosed in Invercargill, pain in my left side, back and left leg. Walking difficulty and ACC will not help as I was a student at the time (teacher's college).
Any advice or help please - I live in the UK now.

Did you go straight from school to T Coll? If so you are entitled to Loss of Potential earnings. However if you had time away from study prior to attending college that is a different issue altogwther.

OK in that case you are not entitled to Loss of Potential earnings BUT you are still entitled to ALL other aspects of ACC including vocational and social rehabilitation. I suggest you write to ACC and ask what your legal entitlements are and go from there. The fact you were a student at the time doesn't mean you have no cover... good luck.
