With all the media coverage relating to http://www.acc.co.nz there will no doubt be ACC Experts coming out of the woodwork advertising their services who have little or no real experience in helping those who need assistance.
Please be careful who you choose to help you.
Do full background checks in various places, including in the ACC decisions nzlli database and see if the have in fact handled any cases, and ask them which ones.
There will be good up and coming advocates and lawyers who will have experienced staff in the background helping where necessary and then there will be the conartists who think they can get away with and take advantage of vulnerable people and rip them off.
Tread carefully.

Hukidaspida, Timely advice - Did anyone hear the lawyer on Morning Report yesterday, ChCh Cameron? voicing his experience, so pro ACC, string of defence excuses all prepared.
Believe he is the dude who did a mass mail out aimed at potential sensitive claimants, all pro bono resulting in a large % of the lump sum going to him.
NO recent judgments have been found for this gentleman. Anyone else hear the interview

I did and was very annoyed by his responses. So I contacted Radio National and supplied the list of advocates and lawyers that Acclaim Otago is aware of who actually DO specialise in ACC and suggested that they may like to work from that list next time they want comment on ACC issues.
Like water, be gentle and strong. Be gentle enough to follow the natural paths of the earth, and strong enough to rise up and reshape the world

Please remember to do background research, as we suggested, before you commit yourself to using any ACC Expert who doesn't have cases to back up their statements.

acc chose to try and keep me away from media exposure by offering to mediate
uuurghhhhh...when you shake hands with a limp dishcloth , you know his hand has been in the other mans pocket....
wanted to throw up before the mediation started.
and as for the smart ass legal, who thought he could crush my already delicate hand, got a fright, when i gripped back and nearly pulled him forward off balance!
you can tell who you're dealing with, by the handshake....
and some advocates do not read law...and somehow this become the bee all and end all in court
well excuse me, im injured, not a criminal, what am i even doing in court?

I suggest you are at the Court trying to get your entitlements, just like the rest of us.
If you do not follow the legislation of timeliness for application for entitlements, you will not have the bother of going to Court because you will be out of time, and there not have any right to apply for the entitlement, you will have to get the OK to be appling out of time first.
So instead of wondering why, just learn the law and follow it.
Your Mate Pullar may not have to go to Court to get what she wants, but most of us do, so just follow the lead of others that have been doing it a long time.
There is something in what KTH says about helping yourself.
If Woodhouse principles were protecting you, you would not be in the predicament you are i.e fighting for your rights. Accept what is and go with the flow, you will find you are less disappointed and maybe even learn to help yourself.
This forum can only assist you if you are willing to ask direct questions about issues that hamper you in getting your rightful entitlements. That is what this forum is best for although it has lost its touch a bit in the past few years, as it has only been spurting peoples opinion, not FACTS.
Each person on here has a different background with ACC, and those differences must be taken into consideration.
There are those that will not accept that life is not perfect, therefore we must learn to bend like a willow tree and go with the wind.
Well thats my thoughts for the day, guess I had better go get some groceries.
